Private Jet
London to Malaga

Málaga serves Marbella, Sotogrande and the Costa del Sol, around two hours twenty airborne from London. It works year-round rather than just in summer, which is why golf drives so much of the traffic.

Why this airport

The Costa del Sol has a mild winter, and Málaga is the practical arrival for Marbella and Sotogrande. Gibraltar is closer to Sotogrande but comes with its own operational and political complications.

Slots, parking and operational restrictions

Málaga is a full-size international airport with established business aviation handling and generally good capacity. Summer weekends are busy but it rarely runs out the way the island airports do.

Alternative airports

Gibraltar is closer to Sotogrande but has a short runway, distinctive wind conditions and border considerations. Jerez serves the west. Seville and Granada are inland alternatives. For Marbella itself, Málaga is normally the right answer.

Passengers and baggage

Golf clubs are the defining baggage question on this route. Four golfers with four sets of clubs is a materially different aircraft requirement from four passengers with overnight bags — the bags are long, and hold shape decides what fits.

Onward transfer

Marbella and Sotogrande are road transfers along the coast whose duration varies considerably with season and traffic.

Road journey times vary with traffic, weather and season. We do not publish transfer times as promises.

Indicative cruise altitude only — actual altitude depends on routing, weather, aircraft weight and air traffic control. Range is a planning figure, not a guarantee: payload, reserves, weather and airport restrictions all reduce usable range. Individual aircraft configurations vary and no particular airframe is guaranteed.

The pilot’s view

This is the golf route, and the single most common mistake is booking on passenger count. Four people is a light jet; four people with four sets of clubs and shoe bags is often not. Tell us the clubs when you tell us the dates and the recommendation will be right first time. Winter is genuinely good here, and the sector prices better out of season.

Common questions

How long is a private jet flight from London to Malaga?

About 2 hr 10 min estimated airborne time over a great-circle distance of 891 nm. Allowing for taxi at both ends, indicative block time is about 2 hr 30 min. Actual routing varies with airways, ATC, weather and operational requirements.

How much does a private jet from London to Malaga cost?

Indicatively £14,000 for a super-midsize aircraft, calculated from 2 hr 10 min estimated airborne time. Indicative flying charge only, calculated from estimated airborne time and a representative rate for the aircraft category. Positioning, airport charges, handling, passenger taxes, catering, de-icing, crew expenses and minimum-sector charges are additional. Final pricing depends on aircraft availability and operator quotation.

Who operates the flight?

Charter flights are operated by appropriately certificated third-party air carriers. The operating carrier is identified with the charter quotation.

Can I take golf clubs?

Yes, subject to the aircraft. Golf travel bags are long items and hold shape matters more than stated volume. Tell us how many sets and we will confirm which categories work.

Málaga or Gibraltar for Sotogrande?

Gibraltar is closer but has a short runway, distinctive wind and border considerations. Málaga is usually the more practical arrival.
