Palma is under two hours airborne from London and the main Balearics gateway. Busier than Ibiza in raw movements but generally easier for parking, which often makes it the better-value Balearic arrival.

Super-midsize planning profile. Block time adds an indicative taxi allowance across both ends and is not a scheduled time. Why this airport

Mallorca is larger and the airport handles a wider range of aircraft with more capacity than Ibiza. For the north and west of the island it is the only sensible arrival.

Slots, parking and operational restrictions

Palma's general aviation apron is busy at summer weekends and overnight parking is usually obtainable with notice, less so at short notice in August. It is a full-size international airport, so runway and approach capacity are not the constraint the way they can be at the smaller island fields.

Alternative airports

Ibiza is a short hop if the itinerary covers both islands. Menorca serves the eastern island. Valencia and Barcelona are the mainland options for onward connections.

Passengers and baggage

More aircraft options than Ibiza means baggage is generally less of a constraint. Golf is a common reason for this route outside peak summer and clubs need declaring.

Onward transfer

Palma and the southern coast are close to the airport. Pollença, Sóller and the north-west are considerably further, and the Serra de Tramuntana roads are slow.

Road journey times vary with traffic, weather and season. We do not publish transfer times as promises.

Indicative cruise altitude only — actual altitude depends on routing, weather, aircraft weight and air traffic control. Range is a planning figure, not a guarantee: payload, reserves, weather and airport restrictions all reduce usable range. Individual aircraft configurations vary and no particular airframe is guaranteed.

The pilot’s view

Palma is the sensible Balearic choice and it is often overlooked because Ibiza gets the attention. More parking, more aircraft that fit, fewer surprises in the quotation. If you are going to Mallorca it is the obvious answer, and if you are going to Ibiza in a peak week it is worth asking what a Palma arrival would cost by comparison.
